How We Use YouTube Data
TrailWeights uses the YouTube Data API to discover and display relevant gear review videos alongside the products in our catalog. When a user views a product page, we search YouTube for reviews from outdoor creators, display video thumbnails and titles, and link directly to the creator's video on YouTube.
We respect creator content — we never re-host, download, or modify videos. All playback happens on YouTube. We display standard metadata (title, thumbnail, channel name, view count) to help users find the most relevant reviews.
Our video discovery pipeline processes thousands of products across the outdoor gear market, matching them to creator reviews via transcript analysis and metadata matching. This requires YouTube Data API search and video list operations at scale.
